About the quote count

Luis said three quotes. The source comparison found three attached quote PDFs: Autodesk quote Q-1902733, Dell quote 3000204998456.2, and Dell quote 3000205073309.1. The earlier Beacon page showed four rows only because the Dell workstation bundle was split into desktop and mobile workstation rows for analysis. Here it is recombined as the single actual workstation quote.

1. Autodesk AEC Collection + Forma

Capability sizing

Realistically supports two named production users in Autodesk's architecture stack: Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 3ds Max, Docs, and Forma. It is a strong standards/workflow quote, not enough licenses for a whole growing office unless more seats are added.

Remote-office value

Forma and Autodesk cloud/admin tooling help early design, sharing, and account control across sites. For live multi-office Revit collaboration, John should confirm whether BIM Collaborate Pro or Autodesk Docs entitlements are included or need to be added.

Existing printer and plotter

This quote creates the drawings, sheets, models, and upstream files that feed the existing plotter and Mimaki workflow. It does not itself host print queues, provide plotter drivers, or run the Mimaki RIP station.

Adds over the others

It is the only quote that gives the office a CAD/BIM software standard. The Dell hardware can run the work, but without this layer John still needs licenses, collaboration rules, and project-file discipline.

Capability sizing

Best sized as a shared HQ infrastructure host, not as a user workstation: file services, permissions, VPN/remote-access landing point, print queues, utility VMs, backup jobs, and light render/automation workloads. The base NVMe storage is fast but modest for BIM archives, scans, render assets, and 3D-print libraries.

Remote-office value

This is the quote that can make a remote office feel connected to HQ: centralized project shares, controlled access, site-to-site VPN, remote desktop jump hosts, backup targets, and shared print/plot queues. It needs a proper network design around it; the server alone does not solve WAN sync.

Existing printer and plotter

Good candidate to host the existing plotter queue and shared presets so every office prints consistently. It can also store Mimaki source assets and completed files, but the actual 10-million-color Mimaki prep/RIP should run on a GPU workstation, not on this server.

Adds over the others

It adds the shared backbone the workstation quote lacks: permissions, backups, print hosting, and a controlled remote-office entry point. It is optional if John chooses a cloud-first architecture; it is valuable if he wants local HQ infrastructure.

The two Tower T2 machines are the heavy production seats: RTX 6000 Ada 48 GB, 128 GB RAM, and 4 TB SSD for large Revit models, rendering, point clouds, Rhino/SketchUp/3ds Max, and color 3D-print prep. The two Pro Max 18 Plus laptops are strong mobile BIM/review seats: RTX PRO 5000 24 GB, 128 GB RAM, and 4 TB SSD for principals, site meetings, remote-office continuity, and occasional heavy work.

Remote-office value

This quote adds actual work capacity at more than one location. The laptops let senior staff carry real CAD/BIM power between offices and job sites; the towers anchor high-load production at the main office. Pair it with Autodesk cloud collaboration or the PowerEdge/VPN plan so work does not fragment across local drives.

Existing printer and plotter

The Tower T2 machines are the best hosts for the existing Mimaki-class 10-million-color workflow because they have the most VRAM and thermal headroom. They can also drive the existing large-format plotter directly or through the PowerEdge print queue. The laptops can prepare and review plot/Mimaki files remotely, but the heaviest RIP/color jobs should stay on a tower.

It is the only quote that gives John immediate production horsepower. Autodesk defines the workflow, PowerEdge centralizes services, but this bundle is where drawings, BIM models, renders, plot files, and Mimaki-ready assets actually get made.

Add the PowerEdge R570 if John wants a local remote-office backbone: centralized shares, backup, VPN, print queues, and asset hosting. If the firm prefers cloud-first collaboration and has light local infrastructure needs, the server should be revisited with a storage/backup/network design before purchase.

The existing large-format plotter and existing 10-million-color Mimaki-class printer should be treated as integration targets. The quote decision is about which systems host, drive, and prepare work for them.
